— A Heart Note to You, Friend
Hello friend,
Five years into marriage, motherhood, purpose, and growth… I’ve learned something I wish someone had told me earlier: "my happiness is my responsibility"
I remember my husband saying this to me in our first year of marriage — “I’m not responsible for your happiness.”
It stung. It felt strange. Marriage was supposed to “complete” me… wasn’t it?
But as time unfolded, I realized he was right.
I was already complete — in Christ, in identity, in purpose. We were never meant to complete each other… only to complement each other.
That truth changed everything.
When I Stopped Expecting Him to Be My Source
I stopped being angry when he didn’t meet expectations I never communicated.
I stopped taking things personally when his reactions came from his own upbringing, not from a desire to upset me.
I learned a gentle but powerful truth:
I can feel empathy for what he goes through, but his emotions are not mine to carry.
The Wisdom That Saved My Marriage
My counselor — God bless her soul — once told me,
“Pick your battles.”
Five years later, that sentence is still working miracles.
I practice it daily. It has softened tension, lowered expectations, reduced anxiety, and created space for peace.
Rediscovering Myself in Christ
Somewhere along the way, I began rediscovering:
✨ Who I am in Christ
✨ Who I am outside my roles
✨ My goals, my inspirations, my voice
✨ My capacity to show up each day with grace
And this journey… it has been blissful.
A Happier, Lighter Version of Me
Every day, I give the best of the knowledge and strength God gives me:
—to my family,
—to the people I can hold space for,
—and to myself.
That in itself has become my happy place—not depending on one person or one role, but realizing my joy is found in the whole of who God is making me.
Not just in my husband.
Not just in my kids.
Not just in helping others or writing.
But in the combination of all God has entrusted to me — and the woman I am becoming.
A Reminder for You, Friend
You deserve to be happy.
But happiness isn’t in things, places, or possessions — they fade.
It’s found in who you are now, and who you’re growing to become in Christ.
I hope this encourages your heart today.
You are allowed to rediscover yourself.
You are allowed to grow.
You are allowed to be happy — and to own that responsibility with joy and grace.
With love,
Glory
