So my toddler having a meltdown today, this was what the holy spirit taught me unconsciously.
When Their Feelings Feel Too Big**
When we tell our kids to stop their tantrums because "it's not a big deal to us", what we're really teaching them is that how they feel isn’t important.
Imagine you’re overwhelmed, going through something hard — and someone just says, “Get over it, it’s not that deep.”
Exactly. That’s how kids feel when we brush off their big emotions.
But here’s the real question: Not a big deal to who?
Being There, Not Fixing It
So instead of telling my kids to stop crying because it’s making me uncomfortable, I let them cry.
I let them feel.
I just sit there and be present — no judgment, no anger, no fixing.
After the meltdown, I’m there for a hug. Not because I solved anything — but because I didn’t try to.
Sometimes what a person needs most is **not a solution** but **a safe place to fall apart**.
We All Have Tantrums (Even Grown-Ups)**
Some days, I want to scream too. Not because of one big thing — just because life piles up and it’s *a lot*.
We all have our adult tantrums, our silent meltdowns. But most of us never got the space to feel what we feel without being shamed for it.
That’s why I want better for my kids.
--- Grace Over Shame**
When kids grow up knowing it’s okay to feel…
They grow up learning how to handle those feelings, too.
They grow up emotionally intelligent. Not because I had all the answers — but because I gave them space.
No judgment.
No toxic positivity.
Just love, and presence.
---. A Hope for the Future**
I hope one day, when I’m old and tired and I complain, my kids won’t treat me like I’m bothering them.
I hope they’ll just be there.
Like I was for them.
That’s my prayer — not just as a Christian mum, but as a human being raising other humans. That we all learn to sit with each other’s pain, not fix it, not shame it but just be there
